Roof tiles are a 100% natural product, formed by the combination of earth, water, air, and fire.
We acquire our clays sustainably, extracting only the material necessary for tile manufacturing, without generating any mining waste and guaranteeing the subsequent restoration of the environment and the creation of new habitats. Ceramic roof tiles have a lifespan of over 50 years, and once they have completed their useful life cycle on a roof, they can be reused and recycled for other uses, such as gardening, tennis courts, etc
Energy Consumption and CO2 Emissions
In our ongoing commitment to the environment, we are taking action to reduce our energy consumption. In 2023, we installed a photovoltaic plant consisting of 1,800 panels and contracted for electricity from 100% renewable sources from our suppliers.
This reduction in energy consumption goes hand in hand with a reduction in CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
Waste and Packaging Minimization
During the manufacturing process, any product rejections are reprocessed, so we do not generate ceramic waste at any stage. Waste such as cardboard, wood, and plastic is separated, compacted, and sent for recycling to give it a second life.
Furthermore, we collaborate with our suppliers on a Packaging Prevention and Ecodesign Plan, which allows us to recover 50% of wooden pallets and reuse 50% of plastic.
Sustainable Construction
Since 2016, we have been committed to offering a comprehensive roofing solution through the certification of the Verea System, a dry ventilated roofing system that guarantees its durability for 50 years.
Roots
Since its founding, Tejas Verea has always been linked to Mesía, where the best clays for manufacturing ceramic roof tiles are found. We are growing in production lines, product types, finishes, and markets, but always from the heart of Galicia and backed by the Galicia Calidade seal.
Employment
We are committed to local, quality employment. Over 95% of our workforce comes from the region where we are located. Although an equality plan was formally established in 2020, women have been involved in the production of our tiles for over 20 years.
Safety and health are key, so we analyze and implement measures that help ensure safer working conditions for both employees and collaborators.
Furthermore, we prioritize local suppliers to maximize our support for the local economy. This also allows us to reduce logistics costs, have greater control over product quality, and reduce our environmental impact by minimizing transport distances.
Education
We collaborate with the Galician educational system by hosting school visits as part of the Entéllate program, introducing children in the region to the rich cultural, historical, and social heritage of ceramics.
We also collaborate with the Universities of Santiago and A Coruña, hosting interns and supervising undergraduate and master's theses.
Collaborators
We partnered with AMARAI, an association for people with disabilities and integration support, on the solidarity tile project to promote inclusion.
Committed to sports, we sponsor the Boimorto football team, the Verea family's hometown.
We also opened our doors to our neighbors so they could learn about our production process and environmental commitment at our facilities.
Technology
The automation and robotization of the industrial process has represented a huge leap forward in both quality and the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes. In this way, rejects are reduced, consumption is optimized, and worker safety is increased.
Internationalization
In 2007, we began our journey in the American market, for which we adapted our processes to manufacture a new tile model focused on export, which currently accounts for 50% of our revenue.
